Find Your Gymnastics Team

From first routines to college-bound competition, the Y’s team program has a place for athletes of every ability. Gymnasts join by invitation and move up as their skills grow. Explore each path below, then see current sessions and registration.

Pre-Competitive Team for Boys

Boys ages 4–11 build body positions, shapes, and basic skills as they prepare for Level 3. Preteam Junior practices twice a week for about an hour and a half. Preteam Senior adds extra practice hours in the summer, then follows the junior schedule in the fall. This team is by invitation only, and gymnasts need at least a Youth Membership.

Pre-Competitive Team for Girls

Girls train toward a competitive team in two steps. Preteam Junior (ages 4–9) follows the USA Gymnastics Level 1 program, and Preteam Senior (ages 5–13) follows Level 2. Gymnasts focus on body positions, shapes, and basic skills along the way. Those who successfully complete Preteam Senior are invited to join a competitive team.

Competitive Team for Boys

Boys ages 6–18 compete in Levels 3 through 10. Placement is by invitation only, and levels are set each summer at the July 1 level draft. Gymnasts and coaches must hold a USA Gymnastics membership to compete, along with a Y membership (youth memberships are available). Practice time grows with level, and Levels 4 through 6 train about 12 hours a week.

Competitive Team for Girls

Girls ages 6–18 compete in Levels 3 through 10 and in the Xcel program, from Silver through Sapphire. Placement is by invitation only, and the invitational Tops team meets on Saturday mornings. Gymnasts and coaches need a USA Gymnastics membership to compete, plus a Y membership. Each gymnast gets her own locker and meets her coach downstairs.

Private and Semi-Private Lessons

Get focused coaching one-on-one or with up to two friends. Lessons run 30 or 60 minutes, and the per-student rate drops as the group grows. Members receive discounted rates. Call to schedule before you pay, then bring your receipt to your instructor.
